Jeep Reveals New Trim Level

Well, the verdict is in: the latest trim level for the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee is officially called Altitude. The name was chosen from a pool of more than 100,000 entries, all of which were submitted by people who had their sights set on winning a new Grand Cherokee. Now that the name is revealed, it's time to talk about the trim level itself. In a word: black.

First up, the Grand Cherokee itself. We don't usually pick a favorite car, but if we had to - this one would probably be one of the top contenders. It's the Jeep we all know and love, except it features a gloss black grille, a mesh texture in platinum chrome, a platinum lower front fascia, black headlight bezels, and a black liftgate bar. Oh, and we can't forget the 20-inch black wheels. Leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, iPod/MP3 connectivity, rear backup camera, rear-park assist, keyless entry, UConnect hands-free system and 50 or so other advanced safety features all come standard on the Grand Cherokee Altitude.

At first it appeared that the Altitude trim would be limited to the Cherokee, but we're happy to tell you that that is most certainly not the case. The black treatment will also be available on the Jeep Compass and Liberty.

All three will find their way into dealerships like Gillie Hyde Auto Group this May.
