Presidential Chrysler 300C Remains Unsold

There's a yellow De Tomaso Pantera out there with a bullet hole through the steering wheel. You know who put that bullet hole there? None other than The King himself, Elvis Presley. As it turns out, it wouldn't start one day, and in his frustration, he shot the steering wheel. We know that cars that come with cool stories like that one are priceless, but this car in particular has been said to be worth more than $1 million.
It's certainly not the first or last car with a legend attached to it, but there's one hopeful auctioneer on eBay who think his car is quite special. It's a 2005 Chrysler 300C, and it was listed on the website with a starting bid of $1 million. It's story? President Barack Obama drove it when he was still a Senator in Illinois.
Classic car experts argue that there is nothing about the car that would make it worth quite so much money. Though the Hemi V8 engine does give it a bit of an edge over other Chryslers, Obama merely drove the car to work and back. It's certainly no bullet to the steering wheel, now, is it?
Maybe down the road this car will be worth the seven figures it was listed for, but as of now, nobody has stepped up to make the first bid.
It'd probably have better luck at a collector car auction than on eBay. Though, according to Craig Jackson of Barrett-Jackson auto auctions, it's more likely worth around $100,000. To put this in perspective: the Cadillac V-16 Convertible Franklin Roosevelt rode in during parades recently sold for $270,000. And, the hearse that carried JFK after his assassination only fetched around $160,000.
Maybe it's just us, but we think that if you want a pre-owned car, be it a Chrysler 300C or any other luxury sedan, you shouldn't pay a million bucks for it - no matter who drove (or rode in) it first. You'll find a lot of pre-loved cars here at Gillie Hyde Auto Group, they probably won't come with a cool story about a frustrated celebrity, but we're sure you'll love them as much as their previous owners did. Stop by and see us during our regular business hours to take one for a spin - we're conveniently located at 610 Happy Valley Rd Glasgow, KY 42141.
